PASTOR’S PARAGRAPH
I love 4th of JULY for many reasons. I love the warm, long summer days. I love to swim in the ocean and river. I love the barbecues and family get-togethers. I love watermelon, peaches, and fresh tomato sandwiches. And I love a good fireworks show. All this is a recipe for a good time, huh?
Yes, 4th of JULY is a great time! And the celebration of the Declaration of the Independence of the
USA makes it all the more special. The Father of our Nation and its first President, George Washington, once said, “No people can be bound to acknowledge and adore the invisible hand which conducts the affairs of men more that the people of the United States. Every step by which they have advanced....seems to have been distinguished by some token of providential agency.”
Because we are grateful for God’s blessings and his leadership, we must rededicate ourselves in prayer for our country. Yes, God has greatly blessed us and has graced us beyond anything we could possibly deserve, and yes, our problems are great and, yes, our leadership needs our prayers now more than ever. Therefore, join me in a recommitment to pray each and everyday for this great nation. Pray that we all would return to the gratitude and understanding expressed by George Washington in the above quote. Pray that our future will continue to be distinguished by these tokens of providential agency.
Doc.
